Family Report

A Family Report is an independent assessment prepared by a specialist report writer, often referred to as a Family Consultant, who has extensive experience assisting families following separation.

The aim of the assessment is to forensically examine the issues relevant to your child/ren and their long-term care. This includes factors that impact your child/ren’s safety and wellbeing, such as:

  • Their relationship with each parent

  • The capacity of each parent to meet their ongoing needs

  • Potential risk factors including coercive and controlling family violence

  • Concerns around adult mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, or other parenting limitations

Our reports include:

  • Interviews with each party

  • Interviews with children (typically four years and above)

  • Observations of interactions between the child/ren and each party (when appropriate)

Our reports are child-focused, outcome-oriented, and provide a clear summary of key issues and relevant information in relation to the best interests of your child/ren.

Each report includes specific recommendations, grounded in social science research, to assist in making informed decisions about future care arrangements. These reports often support parents in reaching agreement and avoiding further litigation.
